A Short or Weekend Break Honeymoon

If time constraints only allow you a weekend break or midweek getaway for your honeymoon, you are sure to want to choose a destination that lets you make the absolute most of your time and guarantee you a trip to remember.

Why a Short Break?

A short or weekend honeymoon break doesn't have to be a rushed, frenetic affair. The key is to choose a short haul destination that has lots going on and that you can pack lots into. Logistical planning is key - choose a hotel in the resort centre, book things in advance (in terms of tickets for attractions, shows etc.) where ever possible to save you precious time once you are in situ.

Don't get into the mind-set that you are restricted to a city break either - as alluring as Prague, Paris or Amsterdam are for a short break, there are plenty of countryside locations or smaller towns that would also really fit the bill - it all depends on your likes and dislikes and budget!

Planning Your Trip

Before you even decide where to go for your honeymoon break, talk through what you want from it and then make your short-list of possible places from there. It's no use wanting to have the run of a luxury spa facility and access to decent night-life if you want your surroundings to be a sleepy village in the middle of nowhere. As you won't have time to move about too much between locations, you might have to forgo one thing in favour of another, and with that in mind it is important to prioritise and sort the essential from the desirable!

Perhaps going away for a short trip will mean you can splash out on a 5 star or boutique hotel - in which case, do your research and go for the absolute best you can afford. When time is of the essence it could make all the difference! And of course, if your hotel offers treatments, a pool, good entrainment and fine dining, you won't have to go far to enjoy yourselves!

Where To Go

Paris:Not called the city of romance for nothing, Paris is a perennial favourite in terms of honeymoons and romantic break destinations. Its relatively compact lay out makes it the perfect short break destination, and its myriad of galleries, museums, architecture and places of interest means you'll never be at a loss for something to do. And in terms of hotels and restaurants you will be absolutely spoilt for choice!

Amsterdam:The capital of the Netherlands and its largest city, Amsterdam has long been a favourite with stag and hen parties, and is the perfect city break location. And as a honeymoon destination it cuts the mustard too! With its historic port, Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, and of course its many canals (which give it its nickname of the "Venice of the North") you won't be short of things to do!

Prague:Situated on the River Vltava, Prague is the largest city in the Czech Republic and its capital. For many years, Prague has been a cultural, political and financial centre, and as a holiday – or indeed honeymoon destination, it takes some beating. Its stunning, romantic architecture makes gentle strolls a pleasure, and provides the perfect backdrop for your honeymoon pictures!
