Ways To Boost A Honeymoon Budget

Every blushing bride and gorgeous groom deserves an amazing honeymoon to wind down following their big day, but it’s all too easy to get carried away and blow the budget. Emotive tour operator marketing and self-imposed pressure to have the holiday of a lifetime often mean a honeymoon becomes one of the highest wedding-related costs. Whatever you’ve set aside, we show you some ways you can boost your honeymoon budget.

Guest Appearance

Honeymoon registries are fast becoming one of the most popular ways for newlyweds to achieve that dream honeymoon without busting the budget. Like a wedding gift list, your guests simply sign up to contribute to your honeymoon instead of purchasing a present. For the majority of couples who have set up home prior to getting married, encouraging guests to buy a little piece of the honeymoon makes practical and financial sense.

Sale of the Century

If you would rather pay for your own honeymoon there are still lots of ways to maximise that budget. Why not make a list of all the things that you don’t like or no longer need around your home and organise a sale? Whether you sell online or take you car along to a boot sale, you’ll be surprised at the money you can make for very little effort. You might not make thousands, or enough to pay for the entire trip, but every little bit helps. Perhaps you can use the money to upgrade your hotel room, or finance your spending when you get there.

Destination Unknown

These days the budget conscious honeymoon couple need to do some homework where destination is concerned. No longer is the USA such a great deal for the UK honeymooner, and the Eurozone too compares badly to recent times. An easy way to boost your honeymoon budget, if you’re flexible on location, is to travel where the exchange rate is still favourable. South Africa is one place where your pound will go further and you’ll also avoid the cost of flying long haul.

Off Season

Another easy way to make your honeymoon budget go a lot further is to travel to your chosen destination in low season. This does not mean you’ll encounter bad weather or closed amenities; perhaps you may not have quite as many daily hours of sunshine, or maybe you’ll see an occasional rain shower. Make sure you do your research before you book - though you wouldn’t want to fall foul of hurricane season in the Caribbean, there are many great deals to be had by booking a low season honeymoon.

With some thorough research and a flexible attitude you can stretch your budget to cover some fantastic honeymoon destinations that you might never have considered. When the time comes to book, pitch a high street or specialist travel agent against an online holiday search engine and see which can offer you the best deal. Note down the details of the best price and ask the competition to beat it. Boosting your honeymoon budget has never been so simple.
